The All-New Honda Civic Type R showcases racetrack-proven engineering at the Clark International Speedway
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) hosted the All-New Civic Type R Ultimate Track Experience, an exclusive event for Civic Type R customers and select guests, held at the Clark International Speedway on March 5, 2023. Owners of the previous and current generation Civic Type R enjoyed the exciting program especially the open track after they have completed a comprehensive driving and track orientation designed for them to better appreciate the performance capabilities of their car.
Civic Type R customers were able to test the power of Honda’s renowned high-performance hatchback through driving exercises and open laps. By the end of the day, everyone was able to feel the track-ready dynamics of the 6th Generation Honda Civic Type R. Adding to the fun and thrilling track day experience were the awarding ceremonies for participants who successfully completed the series of driving courses, free 18-point vehicle inspection, and other fun activities, not only for those who came to drive on the race track but also for their companions.
The owners of the All-New Civic Type R also got to test the new enhanced version of the Honda LogR Performance Datalogger. LogR combines its onboard computer and sensors with a new built-in vehicle app that helps drivers monitor and record a variety of performance parameters. All data are captured real-time while driving on the road, on a track, and on other closed courses, helping to improve the driver’s behavior and skills.
Key features are as follows:
- Performance Monitor - provides vehicle information to the driver such as 3D Display, Tire Friction Circle, cornering G-forces, the status of oil and coolant temperatures, oil pressure, and more.
- Auto Score- Shows how the car behaves and helps you improve your driving skills. Autoscore measures your driving performance using key driving parameters such as your acceleration, deceleration, and turning.
- Data Log - analyzes driving data to help you understand your driving habits on the racetrack. It also scores your track performance, provides lap time and Heat Map which you can review and use to further improve your driving performance.
Honda’s latest halo model embodies the brand’s challenging spirit with its latest innovations that are sure to deliver a thrilling driving experience. To satisfy hardcore enthusiast drivers, the All-New Civic Type R is motivated by a 2.0-liter 16-valve DOHC VTEC, Turbocharged In-line 4 Cylinder engine that churns out a mighty 320 PS and 420 Nm of torque, power is sent to the front wheels. This makes it the most powerful model in Type R’s 30-year history.
The All-New Civic Type R uses a 6-speed manual transmission with a Rev Match Control System, which has been improved compared to the outgoing model for more precise and smoother shifting while on the go. On top of its thrilling powertrain, the All-New Civic Type R comes with four (4) driving modes that were also tested on the track. The following modes include Comfort, Sport, +R, and the individual mode which is new and is customizable by the driver.
