Hood Striker Recall

Recall Information

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Japan has announced the voluntary recall of 2016-2019 Honda Pilot units for a possible replacement of the Panel Component Hood. In line with this, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. will conduct a Recall Preventive Measure Campaign for 137 units of Honda Pilot sold in the country.

Findings show that due to an improper hood to grill gap setting at the time of vehicle manufacturing, the hood latch may experience higher than expected load under certain driving conditions. Strong air pressure forced through this gap may cause the hood to vibrate which, over time, may cause the area surrounding the hood latch striker to crack and potentially dislodge, presenting a risk for the hood to open while driving and increasing the risk of a crash.

Recall Notification

In every recall announcement, Honda has been sending Notification Letters to all affected customers via courier based on the latest addresses listed in Honda’s database. Customers may also verify if their vehicle is affected by encoding its 17-digit Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number in the Chassis/VIN search tool located in the Recall page of the website.

Recall Procedure

While there have been no reported crashes or injuries due to this in the Philippines, HCPI with 37 authorized Honda Dealers and Service Centers nationwide will proceed with the reinforcement or replacement of Panel Component Hood. This will be FREE of charge for the vehicle owners, and will take thirty (30) minutes if the action needed is reinforcement of hood. If the diagnosis warrants a replacement, two (2) days will be necessary to complete the painting. It is highly advised that customers would contact their preferred Honda Cars dealerships and book for an appointment before visiting them to ensure parts allocation and hassle-free transaction.
