Steering Gearbox Recall for Select Models

Recall Information

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) places great value on its customers’ safety and wants to ensure that no Honda products running on the road could harm anyone. It announces that it will be recalling select units for Steering Gearbox snagging, unusual sound, and vibration while turning.

STEERING GEARBOX RECALL

HCPI is issuing this recall due to the decrease in grease amount in the worm gear, meshing area of the Electric Power Steering Gearbox during use. The sliding resistance in the meshing area increases and the torque fluctuation becomes larger while turning the steering wheel. This results in an unusual sound and an unsmooth turn from steering while turning or ‘sticky steering’ that might make the driver feel a sense of unease.

HCPI reports there are 5,505 affected units. Replacement parts and labor for this voluntary recall are FREE OF CHARGE.
