  • The refreshed exterior styling and the new RS variant was showcased through the different scenic destinations highlighting the 2018 New Honda HR-V as a stylish yet ideal urban road trip vehicle.

Manila, Philippines, September 13, 2018 – Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda’s automobile business unit in the Philippines, recently concluded its Media Test Drive event featuring the 2018 New Honda HR-V. The event highlighted the New HR-V’s updated styling and its new RS Variant to select members of the motoring media for a two-day get away drive from Metro Manila to the scenic provinces of Cavite and Batangas.

Prior to driving out of Manila, the participants gathered at Bonifacio Global City where they were welcomed by two variants of the New HR-V, namely the 1.8 E CVT and the new 1.8 RS Navi CVT. This allowed them to have a closer look at the New HR-V’s refreshed front facia with its new front grille and distinctive LED headlights as well as the new wheel design, all of which showcase how Honda’s new compact crossover SUV stands out when being driven in urban city streets.

Starting with a short drive through the busy streets of the Metro and on to the South Luzon Expressway, the New HR-V first displayed its capabilities as a comfortable urban cruiser. Despite being a compact crossover, the New HR-V offers generous interior space. With its spacious legroom for the front and rear passengers as well as an ample headroom, the New HR-V allowed the participants to sit comfortably for the long drive ahead.

Upon reaching the rural roads, The New HR-V revealed its performance attributes as well as its handling capabilities as it traversed through the scenic coastal and mountain roads of Cavite and Batangas. The synergy of New HR-V’s 1.8-liter SOHC and its Continuously Variable transmission (CVT) proved how capable the drivetrain of Honda’s compact crossover is throughout the steep uphill climbs and fast downhill corners while still providing a smooth ride with uncompromised fuel efficiency.

The Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) features also came into play as our participants navigated the steep climbs and winding roads along Batangas. The VSA enhanced the New HR-V’s handling preventing it from oversteering and understeering while the Hill Start Assist prevented rolling during inclined stops. Combined, the VSA and Hill Start Assist provide driving confidence regardless of any road condition.

The southern drive provided the participants the opportunity to appreciate the fresh new look of the New HR-V while allowing them to experience its exhilarating driving capabilities and ride comfort expected from a Honda vehicle. With its stylish coupe like exterior styling, comfortable and spacious interior, advanced safety and technology features, and fuel-efficient drivetrain, The New HR-V proved that it is one crossover capable of tackling the urban city streets and the scenic country roads.
